The Wedding Souvenir or, as known in the States, the Wedding Favor
The tradition of giving your guests a wedding souvenir is still strong, especially in Europe and is fast expanding and even expected, farther West both in North and South America. The traditional souvenir though, be it the odd glass candle holder or the small crystal item are definitely out of fashion.
Designers have realised that as times are quickly changing so should the wedding souvenir or favor as known in the States. Today’s wedding souvenir designers have concluded that the old fashioned souvenir or favor has lost its value and guests are nowadays appreciating more, useful and modern wedding souvenirs. Probably they are right! In most modern houses guests are not finding the right place where to keep such traditional souvenirs and tend to simply put them aside or even dispose of them.
So designers have changed their concept and started creating and introducing more practical and useful wedding favors. The new trend for the 2009/2010 collection includes practical items such as table ware, personal items like key chains and mobile phone charms. With the recent crave for Enoteca or the art of wine making and appreciation, a new genre of modern related souvenirs have been introduced.
The ever growing interest in ethnic and cultural tribal items has found its way into the production of wedding souvenirs as well. For those who are more conservative and less adventurous, there are still some classical item designs, which have been given a more modern appearance but still retain their traditional look.
